our csr approach
responsible in all we do.
What Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) means to us:
It is how we manage and conduct our business to produce an overall positive impact on society.
When we talk about CSR we are talking about something that goes beyond pure social responsibility in the narrow sense of the word. We see ourselves as being part of society and a partner to society. We seek to take effective and responsible long-term action. This is especially true wherever our value creation overlaps with the interests and expectations of our stakeholders in our business environment, towards our employees, in the community and in the treatment of the environment.
Our corporate responsibility approach is closely aligned with our corporate structure. We practice decentralised, local involvement, systematically staying close to our value chain.
To us it is about doing the right thing within our company, and for the community we serve and belong to.
Some basic principles define us, and therefore our approach:
- We must accept that we must make a profit and create wealth - for only successful companies that do this are able to do the best for their people and the community.
- We are a community based business which serves that community from within. We therefore give back differently to some, starting with good, confident, economically active citizens, who act as examples and role models as they do the right thing.
- We naturally build community capacity whilst doing business by providing quality careers, and through our training and skills agenda; by mentoring into the community, and by willingly offering support and advice to organisations and individuals alike.
- We will always tend to give back in areas in which we do business and have business relationships.
Fundamental to our approach is “listening”. We listen intently to our customers, our people who serve our customers, our supply chain and the community. We ACT upon what we hear, and gain respect by giving respect, as well as always delivering on our promises.
