Over the years, our investment team has put together some great projects, including: Victoria Dock Primary School (the first PFI school to be delivered in the UK), community facilities such as the Preston Road Village Centre and Age Concern UK’s first older peoples’ centre, ten health and community centres - with more to come - valued at more than £100m as well as three of the first schools in Hull’s Building Schools for the Future project – a further £50m of investment in 2011-12.
As we continue to grow and move into new sectors the team is faced with the challenge of providing a host of funding solutions, not just for ourselves but for our partners in the public and private sectors. The team’s expertise puts us in a strong position, not least in the field of Public Private Partnerships (PPP) where we have adopted a pioneering approach. This is self-evident in the innovative strides we have made in the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) and NHS Local Improvement Finance Trusts (LIFT).
Clearly, as the range of procurement models to deliver large, complex projects evolves in the future, our team will enthusiastically continue to be pioneers in the search for these alternative methods to raise the capital to fund new developments.
The team, headed up by Dave Leedham and Graham Atkins, also has the broad base of experience necessary to cover a wide spectrum of commercial development including offices, industrial and retail space.
Sewell is not just in the business of construction. We forge partnerships and, with each development, attempt to add wider value for the communities that our developments ultimately serve.
Working with partner organisations, including the NHS and Local Authorities, we go beyond the “basic transaction” to a place where true community regeneration occurs. The Sewell philosophy is more about investing in people and communities than bricks and mortar; the facilities that our investment team’s work realise also serve as a catalyst to bring about sustainable social change and create clear economic benefits for all. Wider community engagement is a key driver for us all.
We will continue to explore new investment models and pro-actively address the investment needs related to delivering the broadest possible range of community-based projects and developments.
